Our Story

Founded in 1988, Storyteller is a trauma-informed educational and support program in Santa Barbara County, California. Beginning as a roped-off area in the parking lot of Transition House, where children could play games, Storyteller has since grown to include three campuses in Santa Barbara. This includes new classrooms added at Transition House in 2023...where it all began.

Today, the organization’s goal is to provide resources for families to help their children grow up healthy and happy, and to end the cycle of poverty. Storyteller offers early childhood education for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, as well as support services for families.

Services include:

• Trauma-informed early childhood education

• Kindergarten readiness program

• Individual support services

• Behavioral health services

• Family support services

• Nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack

Storyteller changes the trajectory of lives for vulnerable children and their families. I am constantly in awe of the strength and determination of our children! Watching them transform their lives is a gift and is why I am passionate about this organization.
